If you've been looking for the hottest summer makeup trend, your search is officially over. The orange blush trend — which has the stamp of approval of BLACKPINK's Rosé, Vivian Wilson, Bella Hadid, and more — has been slowly but surely growing in popularity for a few months, positioning itself as the trend to try before summer is over.
When it comes to blush, most people tend to subconsciously gravitate towards pinks or berries, while orange blushes tend to be more slept on. If you are among those, this should be your sign to change that mentality. Below, we break down why and teach you how to nail the orange blush trend for summer.
Why is orange blush trending again?
Though now maybe more slept-on, orange blush has been a massive trend ever since the '70s, when people wore it to recreate a sun-kissed look, and was super popular among everyone from Farrah Fawcett to Diana Ross. Although orange blush has never entirely disappeared, its popularity has ebbed and flowed, but it has been making a steady comeback into the mainstream for a while.
In 2024, we saw orange blush rise to the top of the makeup echelons again thanks to the sunset blush makeup trend, which got the cosign from the likes of Hailey Bieber. While sunset blush mixed both pink and orange blush to achieve a golden effect, the latter is shining on its own this year.
Why is orange blush special?
Orange blush is not a run-of-the-mill shade. In fact, it is not just one singular shade. Orange blushes include everything from soft peachy shades to bright corals and striking tangerine, mango, and papaya hues. Because of its wide variety, when used in blush form, orange is widely believed to be one of the most universally flattering colors, meaning it works well on all skin tones.

For the summer, most people tend to gravitate towards the most vibrant shades, not surprisingly. We have seen sorbet-like colors trending in both nail colors and sandal designs this year, and blush would be no exception. Brighter blushes tend to work better on deeper or tan skin tones, but those with fairer skin can also join in the fun if you want a bolder look — just make sure to use a soft hand!
This year, BLACKPINK's Rosé has established herself as the queen of the orange blush trend, rocking the color consistently since the beginning of the year. The star was spotted attending a Saint Laurent event in March, rocking a subtle version of the trend, which she then amped up for the brand's show in Paris.
Since then, she's worn the shade everywhere, from the Met Gala and Coachella to music videos and BLACKPINK's <Deadline> tour, often going for a striking under-eye placement, which is popular in South Korea.

How to find the right orange blush for you
As mentioned above, the key to finding the perfect orange blush for you is to pay attention to your skin tone and the final look you want to achieve. If you are going for a more out-there result, opting for papaya and coral options is your safest bet. If you want something more subtle, peachy tones will be your best friend. (Those with deeper skin tones can also achieve a peachy effect with mid-shades such as tangerine!)
