YA shows with brothers in their main love triangles are officially on the up. First came The Summer I Turned Pretty, and now My Life With the Walter Boys, which was officially renewed for a season 2 just days after its premiere and is already confirmed to be returning for season 3 even before its sophomore premiere.
Based on Ali Novak’s Wattpad novel of the same name, season 1 of My Life With the Walter Boys hit Netflix on December 7, 2023. The show follows the story of Jackie Howard, a 15-year-old Manhattanite whose whole life turns upside down after she loses her parents and sister in an accident. She then has to move to Colorado with her guardian, Dr. Katherine Walter, who was her mother’s best friend at Columbia University.
The first season of My Life With the Walter Boys, which features 10 episodes, immediately skyrocketed in popularity on the streamer and social media. Within days of its premiere, My Life With the Walter Boys claimed the top spot on Netflix's Global English Top 10 TV List, with over 20 million views and counting. It's also reached the Top 10 in 88 countries across the world.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television, International Production in tandem with iGeneration Studios (which you might recognize from the Kissing Booth trilogy), it's safe to say My Life with the Walter Boys is gaining fans left and right. If you’ve already watched the first 10 episodes and are dying to know what happens next, we’ve collated all the information we know so far about My Life With The Walter Boys season 2 (and 3) below — including first-look photos, release date, cast updates, and more.
Is there a trailer for My Life With The Walter Boys season 2?
There is indeed. Netflix put out the official full-length trailer for My Life With The Walter Boys season 2 on August 5, 2025. The trailer opens up with Grace and Jackie chatting in the high school corridor as Alex and a new girl walk by. “Are you still with Alex? Because everybody's talking about it?” Grace inquires. Jackie responds, saying “it's complicated” and reveals she kissed Cole to her friend, who is just as shocked as you'd expect.
The next few scenes show Jackie adjusting back to life at the Walters' house, still torn between the two brothers. While Alex asks Jackie for some time and is training with the very new coach, we also see Cole considering college to play football. We get peeks of Jackie being up close and personal with both brothers and even attending prom with Cole, and is that Alex getting into an accident?! You can see the trailer below:
Previously, Netflix released the first teaser trailer for My Life With The Walter Boys season 2 on July 7, 2025. The trailer, which you can watch below, starts with Jackie strutting around New York City. “I spent all summer spiraling about how and why I left,” she says as flashes of her steamy kiss with Cole from season 1 take over the screen. “I don't belong anywhere anymore,” she then says, speaking to Katherine. “You do belong, Jackie. With us,” the Walter family matriarch tells her.
In the following scenes, we see Cole welcoming Alex — who, yes, has had a major glow-up — back home. “The next chapter is coming in hot,” the screen reads as the younger Walter steps out of his prodigal coach. The next few scenes give us a glimpse of Jackie's reunion with both Walter Boys, and also tease a new woman in Alex's life. “Why did you really come back?” Cole finally asks Jackie. And, well, is it August 28 yet?
When is My Life With The Walter Boys season 2 coming out on Netflix?
After much anticipation, the cat is finally out of the bag: My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 will officially premiere exclusively on Netflix on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
The show's three leading stars — Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, and Ashby Gentry — broke the news themselves on July 5, 2025, during a surprise announcement at the Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Canada, where seasons 1 and 2 of the show were filmed.
Season 1 premiered roughly a year and four months ago, but the wait for season 2 has been a little longer. On August 14, 2024, Netflix officially announced that production for My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 had begun. (Season 1 of the show was filmed at a ranch in Calgary during the spring and summer of 2022.) As of mid-November, Netflix announced season 2 had wrapped filming. Though there are no updates on filming, the streamer has also confirmed that a third season (yes, you read that right) will come out in 2026.
Are there any first-look photos from My Life With The Walter Boys season 2?
Yes! Netflix put out seven first-look photos from My Life With The Walter Boys season 2 on June 24, 2025. In the photos, which you can see by scrolling below, we get a peek at just how much Alex, Cole, and Jackie have grown since the summer of season 1 and witness some brotherly tension at the ranch. We also get a peek at Nathan and Skylar holding hands, and see the Walter family cheering at what appears to be a game.
To coincide with the release date announcement, Netflix put out three more photos from My Life With The Walter Boys season 2. We have a new picture of Alex in full cowboy mode, a picture of Alex and Jackie having a one-on-one, and a picture of Cole with Katherine cheering on someone. Scroll below to see them:
To coincide with the release of the official trailer on August 5, Netflix put out nine more photos from the upcoming season, including a peek at Alex and Jackie at driving lessons together, Alex with his new riding coach, and a very shocked Grace and Jackie at prom, among others. What will My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 (and 3) be about?
The love triangle, of course! Netflix touted the season from the get-go with a “Team Alex or Team Cole” tagline, so expect the drama to be intensified. “Pick a side when Netflix’s hit YA drama My Life With the Walter Boys returns for a second season,” the first press release for season 2 read.
🚨 SPOILER ALERT 🚨 Season 1 of My Life With the Walter Boys ended on a bit of a cliffhanger after Jackie left that note for the brothers and fled to New York, quite literally running away from all her problems. If we rewind a little, we know Alex dropped the “L” bomb prior to her escape and is now headed to the rodeo training camp. If we also rewind a little, we know that though Jackie is technically still with Alex, she also shared more than a kiss with Cole. So, yeah, that “I’m sorry” note is not going to cut it, and season 2 will likely bring all the answers.
The official synopsis for My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 is as follows:
“After leaving Silver Falls following Alex’s love confession and her kiss with Cole, Jackie Howard spent the summer in New York City. When Katherine convinces her to return to Colorado, Jackie is determined to make amends with Alex and set boundaries with Cole while finding her place within the Walter family. But fitting back in isn’t that easy. Alex – who changed a lot over the summer – isn’t too thrilled about Jackie’s attempts to reconnect, as he’s focused on training for a risky rodeo event (and enjoying all of the new attention he’s getting). Meanwhile, Cole takes on a new role at school, but when that doesn't quite fill the void left by not playing football, his old ways creep back in and cause drama. As Jackie gains acceptance in Silver Falls while trying to hold onto her Howard identity, she’s forced to make a choice that could destroy everything she’s worked to rebuild.”
However, season 3 might have a chance to steer in any direction, with no direct book as a reference. And there might be more of a focus on the adults in the series as well. “We’ve got a lot of things to do,” showrunner and executive producer Melanie Halsall tells Tudum. “I love the teenage stories and what we do with those characters. But I think we have a lot of potential to tell stories that are intergenerational. I’d love to be able to do more of that in Season 3.”
Who is in the cast of My Life With The Walter Boys season 2?
Netflix announced on November 18, 2024, that five new cast members would be added to the slate of recurring characters for season two. The new additions include Natalie Sharp, who's set to play champion rodeo rider and possible love interest to one of the Walter boys, B. Hartford. Carson MacCormac will play charming senior Zach; Janet Kidder will play Grace's mom Joanne Wagner; Riele Downs is set to play flirty driver's ed student Maria; and Jake Manley will play bronc rider Wylder Holt.
The streaming platform also officially confirmed that Nikki Rodriguez will be reprising her role as Jackie Howard in season 2 of My Life With The Walter Boys as a series regular. Noah LaLonde and Ashby Gentry will also return as Cole and Alex Walter, respectively.
The rest of the Walter family (which, if you’ve watched the show, you’d know, is a lot of people) will also be returning for My Life With the Walter Boys season 2. Netflix has confirmed that Sarah Rafferty, Marc Blucas, Connor Stanhope, Johnny Link, and Corey Fogelmanis, all portraying a Walter, will return as series regulars for season 2. Additionally, Jaylan Evans, who plays Skylar Summerhill, will also be a series regular in the upcoming season.
The recurring cast for season 2 of My Life With the Walter Boys includes Zoë Soul (who plays Hayley Young), Isaac Arellanes (Isaac Gracia), Myles Perez (Lee Garcia), Alex Quijano (Richard), Ashley Tavares (Tara), Dean Petriw (Jordan Walter), Alix West Lefler (Parker Walter), Lennix James (Benny Walter), Alisha Newton (Erin), Ellie O’Brien (Grace), Kolton Stewart (Dylan), Mya Lowe (Kiley), Gabrielle Jacinto (Olivia), Jesse Lipscombe (Coach Allen), and Nathaniel Arcand (Mato Summerhill).
When were My Life With The Walter Boys seasons 2 and season 3 announced?
While we don't have a specific release date yet for the premiere of season 2, we're absolutely getting more of our favorite cowboy love triangle. On May 14, 2025, Netflix announced that My Life With The Walter Boys had officially been renewed for season 3.
Previously, Netflix announced that My Life With the Walter Boys had been renewed for a season 2 on December 19, 2023. If we do some basic math, that’s only 12 days after its initial premiere.
“I am beyond thrilled that My Life With the Walter Boys has been renewed for a second season,” Melanie Halsall, who serves as the series creator, showrunner, and executive producer, told Tudum. “We have been overwhelmed by the love and support that the audience has given the show and can’t wait to dive back into the world of Silver Falls and the lives of these characters.”
Netflix accompanied the season 2 announcement with a sweet video of the cast's reaction to the news. The footage shows actors Ashby Gentry (Alex Walter on the show), Nikki Rodriguez (Jackie Howard), and Noah LaLonde (Cole Walter) in the middle of a photo session on speakerphone with Halsall, who breaks the news to them. “I just wanted to let you know that we've been given the green light for a season two,” Halsall announces, and the leading trio immediately go in for a hug.
