Calling all sneaker lovers: the trending sneakers of spring-summer 2025 are coming in hot to help you revamp your wardrobe for the warmer weather, and we have the full rundown.
While we have seen some of these trends in previous years — fashion is cyclical, after all — the spring-summer 2025 sneaker trends do take it to the next level, with multiple trends overlapping so you can find the ultimate shoe for you. Do you want a silver soccer-inspired sneaker? There's some of that. Are you after Taekwondo shoes that also have a ballerina feel? Coming right up! The truth is sneakers are poised to be very big this next season. Ballet-inspired sneakers are permeating the runways and FYPs, and even Bad Bunny has released his own Ballerina style.
Whether you are looking to add new styles to your rotation or simply get inspiration to style shoes you might already own, below we are breaking down 11 trending sneakers styles for spring-summer 2025.
1. Ballet-inspired sneakers
Ballet flats are back in the picture, and their Renaissance has also birthed a new trendy style of shoes: the ballet sneaker hybrid. Already endorsed by Dua Lipa, Puma is leading the charge when it comes to ballet-inspired sneakers, with the uber-popular Speedcat getting an upper-less upgrade with dainty straps. The Sandy Liang x Salomon collaboration was an early precursor of this trend, and now more and more brands are following suit so there are plenty of options for summer.
2. Soccer-inspired sneakers
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is this summer, so soccer-inspired sneakers are back in fashion and making a big comeback. Tyla has already been sported with the Nike Total 90, and Rihanna's Avanti sneakers for Puma couldn't be more akin to cleats.
3. Racing-inspired sneakers
The Puma Speedcat has taken the world by storm this past season and they are poised to continue to be big in the spring-summer as well. The racing-inspired silhouette, endorsed by the likes of Rosé and Dua Lipa, is timeless and versatile and comes in a bunch of colors and style, including the OG, Go, and aforementioned ballet flat.
4. Taekwondo-inspired sneakers
Sensing a theme? Sports-inspired sneakers are really big this season, and one that emerges as the next big “it” sneakers is undoubtedly the Taekwondo sneaker. Already approved by the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Iris Law, Adidas leads the charge when it comes to Taekwondo sneakers with plenty of lace-up and non-lace-up styles on their site. Bad Bunny's new collaboration with the brand, though called the Ballerina (another trend), also features a similar slim style if you want a more exclusive drop.
5. Nubuck and suede
This season's trending sneakers are all about textures nubuck and suede are taking the cake. You've probably seen the viral Miu Miu tan sneakers all over your timeline. For a similar look on a budget, consider getting some simple suede sneakers and adding colorful laces on your own. This trend is also the perfect opportunity to go for retro hidden gems, like the Adidas Tokyo silhouette.
6. Technical with a twist
Dad sneakers have been all the rage for years and while the silhouette is not going anywhere, they are certainly getting a revamp this season. Instead of the classic silver and white, why not go for colorful monochrome with added flower designs from Cecilie Bahnsen and Asics? Or maybe the twist is going for a mule form in a bold colorway. The sky is the limit but comfort is key!
7. Five fingers and tabis
You've surely seen Tabi boots and ballet flats all over your FYPs, but don't sleep on Tabi sneakers. If you are looking to splurge, Margiela has some Tabi sneaker options that have been around for literal years. For a more affordable option, consider the Nike Air Rifts, which are super popular in Japan and come in a handful of colors — including ballerina pink with satin laces! If you want to take the split-toe trend to the next level, go bold and get a pair of Vibram Frivefingers, which British Vogue christened as the “freaky-chic shoe” of 2025.
8. Boxing shoes
Boxing shoes have been slowly but surely bubbling up to the mainstream. With a runway cosign at Stella McCartney's spring-summer 2025, this style of shoes is for those who go big or go home. Amelia Gray is already a fan. Pair yours with a mini skirt or layered dress to play more with proportions for a chance to have fun layering even during summer.
9. Modern classics
When in doubt, go classic. While last year we saw classics that never die trending, partly thanks to tenniscore, this year it's all about the modern classics. Whether it's canvas styles like the Vans Authentic Eras or the Converse All-Star Chucks (which Billie Eilish recently sported) or more '70s classics that are cultural staples like the Nike Cortez and the Adidas Superstar.
10. Sneakers with long tongues
Big tongues are still in. Initially ushered into the mainstream by the Wales Bonner x Adidas collab, this style is not going anywhere. We have seen it on the runway in the Y-3 menswear spring-summer 2025 show and on the shelves, with the uber-popular Sambas getting this revamped for a more soccer-like look without going all the way there. Nike also has a great metallic option using the Cortez silhouette. A flappy big tongue adds an element of novelty to any 'fit, whether you pair it with a skirt, shorts, or pants.
11. Animal prints
Animal print is still a major trend in sneakers and otherwise, and sneakers with it will be just as big this summer, though we are slowly drifting away from the classic leopard print and favoring other options like cow print. The good thing about this trend is that it's essentially just a color, so it's the perfect example of the overlap we mentioned above since you can mix and match it with your other favorite trends, as seen in the picks below!
