Watch Every Moment from Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year Red Carpet
Released on 10/10/2024
Okay.
Hi, everyone.
I am Brooke Shields, and this is my daughter,
Rowan Henchey. Hello, everyone.
And we're so excited to be here and to welcome you
to the 2024 Glamour Women of the Year Awards.
Guess what?
We are here live on the red carpet
outside of the Paradise Club, in the heart of Times Square.
And tonight, our amazing honorees will be joining us
along with some pretty fabulous VIPs.
That's right, Mom. Thank you.
We have got fans watching on the jumbotron,
on YouTube, all over social media.
And all my friends at college, hi, guys.
I hope dinner was good. Hi, girls.
Olympian Suni Lee will be here,
and we will hear from Sydney Sweeney,
Billie Eilish and Finneas will be at the show tonight.
Mom, last year you were actually honored
as the Glamour Woman of the Year.
And you did mention me in your speech, thank you.
So let's take a look.
And I thank her for reminding my children, my daughters,
that I might actually be a little cool and badass.
And it's because of this award
that they're sort of coming around to that.
Well, it's really hard to call you cool
when you look like the next host of Toddlers and Tiaras,
yeah. Okay, all right,
well, you know what, thanks for the shade.
I am very proud of you and your sister.
You're both in college now.
And right now, I can't believe
that we're co-hosting a red carpet together.
It seems like it's the only way I'm getting to see you.
And we are not the only mother, daughters
here on the carpet tonight,
Glamour is honoring the moms
of some of the most talented people in the world tonight,
and their grateful kids, including Selena Gomez,
Billie Eilish and Finneas,
and Kelly Rowland are gonna be here to cheer them on.
But joining us right now,
the woman who made it all possible,
the editor in chief of Glamour,
and our very good friend Samantha Barry is here!
Oh my God!
Sam, hi! Hi, Sam.
You look so good. You look gorgeous.
You look so good.
Oh, you look stunning. Aw, thanks for having me.
So this is so amazing. We're so happy to be here.
And in addition to the Woman of the Year,
we're also celebrating 85 years of Glamour tonight.
Talk about that.
Look, it's been 85 years that Glamour has been around.
Since 1939, we have been telling women's stories
and honoring them in the most special way.
We have a book, this is a plug,
it's out on October the 14th.
So get to Amazon, pre-order it.
It is the best present you could imagine.
It's gonna be great.
So, Glamour, an Extraordinary History.
It is very, very good.
And that vibe continues
with the 2024 Glamour Women of the Year.
Tell us about it, Sam.
Oh my God, we have the most amazing group of honorees.
They're athletes and innovators. They're activists.
So they've just been doing amazing things.
You'll see there's three sports women on this group.
An Olympic year, that made sense for us.
There is a group of super moms
that are raising the next generation.
You have just people fighting
for a lot of things, entertaining us.
Sydney Sweeney's entertained us a lot this year.
So it's just the most amazing group of women.
And you're talking about these amazing honorees.
I just, I'm wondering,
did you get to spend time with any of them?
Yes. And tell us,
please tell us. Oh my God, it's my joy.
My joy of the year is actually going to the cover shoots.
So for example, with the moms,
we brought them together in LA during the summer.
It was kind of a magic moment
because a lot of them hadn't met each other before.
And you can count on one hand the amount of women
that have raised these kind of famous people.
So that was really special.
Post Olympics, we had Suni come,
and we brought a lot of young gymnasts with her.
And we didn't tell them who we were shooting,
so it was a surprise for them.
It was in Chelsea Pier, it's not too far away from here,
in Times Square.
And they got so excited when Suni, the olympian,
walked in the room, and they got to shoot with them.
So it was really special.
[Brooke Shields] It seemed like every photo shoot you had
was like a real party.
So what can we expect different from the event this year?
It's just that word. It's a party.
It's actually- It's a party.
a bit different, right?
We got performances
from Kelsea Ballerini. It's a party.
We have, it's just this really interactive moment.
The honorees are going to be honored
in a way that we have never done before,
with Freestyle Love Supreme.
It's going to be very, very special.
We'll be sharing everything on Glamour Social.
So if you can't be in the room,
like the 100 plus people are here, just go to Glamour,
and you'll be able to see all the fun.
[Brooke Shields] Absolutely.
Sam, this is just amazing.
It's so good to see you again. I love you always!
Have so much fun tonight. And we will see you inside.
We'll see you inside for some champers.
And next we have Ubah
from The Real Housewives of New York.
So this is beyond excited to introduce her here.
[Brooke Shields] And she hosted the show last year.
Yeah, well, she was in our spot.
So we have some, we have lots of questions,
and we need a lot of advice
'cause- Absolutely.
We need the advice- Look at us.
from them because this is a first for us.
And Ubah did such a beautiful job.
They both did such a beautiful job.
And we have her right here!
I feel guilty holding this. Hi, Ubah.
You look so beautiful. You look stunning.
Hi. Hi.
Lovely to actually meet you.
I know you very well. [Brooke and Rowan chuckling]
Hi, everyone.
[Ubah sighs]
You did such a beautiful job last year.
Do you have any advice for us?
Because this is our first time doing this.
The fact that it is a mother and daughter duo
and the gold and the silver,
like you guys don't need no advice.
I've been watching.
Well, and you are right now fitting perfectly in.
And what's been so amazing is the energy
that's on the carpet.
And you had that energy.
I remember when you first asked me questions, I was like,
These stunning, stunning women!
Did you enjoy yourself being on that side of-
God, it was so nerve-wracking.
'Cause we would just not interview anybody,
we would interview people like you, like Brooke Shields.
And so it was very nerve-wracking.
But again, everyone is so glamour and grace, so it was easy.
And are you, who are you really excited to see tonight
and cheer on tonight?
I mean, every single one on the list,
I'm looking forward to hear their speech,
to find out why they're nominated.
But there's a mother, a mother and daughter duo, that just,
she's a lawyer, she won.
Did you see that?
Yes. Yes, yes.
I just so her, and I was like,
Oh my God, I just watch you and my eyes, I start crying.
Well, we are so excited, and we're gonna see you in there,
and we'll have a little toast,
and you can tell us
how we did. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
Perfect. It's amazing
meeting you. You're stunning.
You are stunning.
Everyone's head turned when you walked in,
and I was like, they're like, You have to go.
I was like, No, I don't. Unbelievable.
Mua! I'm watching. [chuckles]
So right now, however,
we are joined by a gold medal winning Olympian.
And she is the one and only, the incredible Suni Lee.
So please everybody put your hands together
for the wonderful, beautiful Suni Lee!
Congratulations!
Oh my goodness. Oh my gosh.
This is so wonderful. I'm gonna hold it for you.
Okay. You can hold your award.
Oh, okay, okay, okay, I can hold it. Sorry, sorry.
We are so happy to have you here.
Thank you. I'm so happy to be here.
I just wanna say, Suni, I follow your TikToks,
I watch your Get Ready's With Me.
I take makeup advice. I take fashion advice.
I take flexibility advice
from you as much as I can. Oh my gosh!
That's not the path I wanna go down anymore,
but it was for a little bit. [Suni chuckles]
And you really are the comeback kid, you know,
from fighting kidney disease and inner doubt to the medal,
again this year at the Olympics in Paris.
Please tell me and tell us,
how did it feel to be there, and what's next for you?
I mean, it felt amazing just knowing
that I wasn't even supposed to be there,
and doing everything that I could to get there
was probably the biggest accomplishment of all.
I mean, the medals are amazing, but just making it there
and doing the thing that I could
was probably the best feeling.
But yeah, facing all the challenges
and getting to where I am right now, I'm so happy.
And you're a real fighter and a real inspiration.
Yeah. [chuckles]
And I know family means a lot to you,
but is there anyone
that you would like to thank in this moment
to getting you where you are today?
I would have to say, obviously my whole family,
but my doctor and my managers, I mean,
they've been my rocks, and my sister.
I probably wouldn't be here without them
because they've always supported me
and just been here along the journey.
Well, I just wanna say thank you so much
for being here tonight.
It's such an honor to be in your presence,
and I hope to see you inside,
and have an amazing rest of your night.
We will be cheering you on from inside,
and we'll see you later.
Okay. I will always
be cheering you on
no matter where you are. Always, always!
Especially on a mat or a beam or a bar,
but especially here tonight.
Okay, we have a very, very special other guest
that is coming in an honoree.
And we are so excited
because I now know her a little more personally.
We worked on a campaign together.
But please, the unbelievable Donna Kelce.
Welcome and congratulations! [crowd cheering]
Donna, come over here. Come over here.
Meet my baby. [Rowan chuckles]
Yes, this is my baby girl. Hi. [chuckles]
Yeah, that's me. This is Rowan.
Oh, hi, nice to meet you. It's great to meet you.
You can hold the trophy. [chuckles]
Okay. I know, it's kind of large.
How, go ahead, ask her.
I'm wondering how can moms hold space for themselves
while also giving so much energy
and so much attention
to their kids? That's kind of a tough one.
It's a full-time job.
She says she complains she loves me, but she complains,
so I'm curious, how do you do it?
I'll tell you, there's a lot of people,
there's a lot of individuals in your community,
neighborhoods, families, whatever, that you depend on,
especially when you have to go on work, you know, duty,
and to go on the road,
but it's really helpful to really have a base
and a support team.
Especially, you know, when you're working,
because it's definitely difficult.
And it does take a village, you know,
we always say that, but it really does take a village
and to know that people that you, and the other women,
the other strong women that you can count on.
And I've heard you talk about your women friends
and the other moms in your life.
Yeah, I have so many friends
that I've kept in contact with.
A lot of them over 50. They're fabulous.
And I just wanted to say that thank you
to all those individuals that had to put up with my kids
when I wasn't around.
But also, I had a fantastic husband at the time
that helped out, and we were a team,
and we did this together, so it worked out well.
Well, we are so, and what we've learned from you,
I wish I'd met you a little bit earlier in my life
because having
a baby girl now- Glad to meet you now.
and we recently worked on a campaign for,
yes, over 50, shingles,
and we, it was really wonderful getting to talk with you.
And I was so happy when I heard
that you were getting this award tonight.
It's really an honor.
It's amazing to, you know, be in the same room
with so many iconic women,
just knowing that I just gave birth to two celebrities,
but I really am not one myself, so.
It's kind of fun, though. It's very crazy.
But you know,
the idea of celebrity is so odd in this day and age.
You know what, I think all moms are icons and celebrities
because it's not easy being a mom
and instilling, encouraging them, and to strive.
So, you really, you set the bar pretty high for all of us.
So thank you.
I appreciate that Brooke.
You too, Rowan. Thank you
for being here tonight.
It's great to meet you. Thank you very much.
I appreciate it. Thank you.
Congratulations. I'll see you inside there.
Okay. See you inside.
Alright, so here it is. That was awesome.
Meet Glamours, Your Mom of the Year,
Lynda Limon and her daughter, Dupree Walker,
who nominated her for this very, very award.
This is is so exciting. So please-
Hi, guys. come over here,
you beautiful women, you! Come.
Hi. Oh, look at the gold.
All right! Hello.
All right- Mom.
Hi, Mom. Hello. Hello.
Hi, Mom. Hi, welcome to Times Square.
This is so amazing
to meet you both. Thank you.
Thank you.
This is such an honor, so congratulations.
Dupree, what did you nominate your mom for this award? Why?
I mean, my mom is the most important person in my life.
I love her. Everything that I am is because of her.
And I wouldn't be here
or doing the things that I'm doing with my life
if it weren't for my mom.
And she just deserved this,
so it felt like the only thing to do. [chuckles]
I'm gonna give you her phone number later,
[Dupree chuckles]
so you can just talk to her a little bit.
Now, Linda, you're so many things,
and I always start with mom, but you're a family lawyer.
You yourself are an endurance athlete,
which I also think most moms are in general.
And you are a mother of two girls. I also have two girls.
So, what would you say the secret of your success,
but keep keeping moving forward?
One step at a time and always embrace every single moment.
'Cause every single moment is so special,
even the hard ones.
Mm-hmm, and the hard ones
sometimes make the easier ones
just that much easier because we understand.
Well, you have a beautiful daughter.
I look forward to meeting your other,
well, I don't know, [Dupree laughing]
We were gonna talk about that later,
but we are so excited.
So just like you taught us, enjoy every minute.
Congratulations.
I met one daughter.
We can't wait to meet the next one,
and we'll see you in there.
We should be at the after party.
Okay.
We will too. Woo!
[Rowan] We'll be right there with you.
Thank you so much. Believe us.
Congratulations. Perfect.
It's so great meeting you. Thank you.
And I mean- It's nice
meeting both of you.
A mother daughter bond is really something special,
so I'm glad that we got to share this
with you tonight. You can't replace it,
can you? No, you can.
And we'll see you inside, and we'll talk dirt.
Okay. [chuckles] Yeah, okay,
we'll talk dirt. Okay.
That's amazing. All right,
so now we are joined by Bethenny Frankel,
entrepreneur and TV star, also pretty amazing mom.
Mom Bethenny, come over here.
So your daughter, hi. You look so beautiful, mua.
Hi. Hi.
We've never met. So great to meet you.
I don't think so, but there's a first for everything.
You look like Dakota Johnson tonight.
[Brooke And Rowan] Oh!
Oh, okay. Don't you see it?
They see it too. I like that.
Never gonna hear
the end of that, but okay. Thank you.
And I know you're Dad,
'cause I met your parents together.
Oh yeah. Yeah.
You're daughter, Bryn. That kind of chance.
she just started high school.
I'm curious how that's going.
It's going well. Yeah?
She loves it, I love it. She's really happy.
And it's about us telling them how to navigate it,
'cause it does require a little bit of that.
I think everything requires
a lot more of what we don't even realize.
But you're, we've got a lot we can learn, a lot from you.
You're a powerful businesswoman.
So, what would your advice mean to your daughter
or to other young women to really sort of keep thriving
and keeping moving forward in business and life?
I think positive reinforcement
about what they're passionate about,
nurturing what they're passionate about.
I think I said to an advisor at her school recently,
I would like her to stretch herself.
There should be discomfort but not pain, like a yoga pose.
But don't push yourself too hard.
And also sometimes you have to be your own support system
if you are met with anything less
than the confidence that you deserve.
And I always try to tell them that, you know,
Don't always look for somebody else to tell you,
believe it in yourself first.
It's very hard at that age,
because, you know, even we get influenced by trends
and what other people are doing.
We want what other people have.
And so that's like uniquely what they're doing.
And so that's a hard thing
to navigate. Well, we follow you
for trends.
So when we get in there- I eat your snacks.
to keep telling me. Your advice, your snacks.
My snacks? I love your snacks.
[Brooke laughing] Thank you.
All of them.
[Bethenny laughing]
I like the cream cheese.
and you put the cream cheese on the-
The caveate.
The caveate, and then, yes, everything.
That's perfect. [Rowan laughing]
So I'm gonna take some notes from you inside,
and you can give me more snacks.
Okay, great to see you. Me too. Great to meet you.
Congratulations
to your daughter. Great to meet you.
Right now, we have the creator and the star
of Survival of the Thickest, Michelle Bueteau.
We are so excited for season two,
are we not? Hello!
Season-
Season two! [Rowan laughing]
Who gets the season two anymore?!
It's very exciting. It's gonna be fun.
[Rowan chuckles] Oh my God,
you ladies look amazing. So now, I was here,
you hosted the Glamour Women of the Year Award last year.
What can we expect tonight?
Ooh. Oh my goodness.
Things to go right, things to go wrong. People have fun.
Very expensive wedgies, and a lot of supports,
and celebration.
And I don't think we celebrate each other enough.
I think we get caught up in the day-to-day
of what I'm not doing and what needs to be done.
So it's so nice that we could dress up, come out,
celebrate each other, and have like our own holiday.
So, yes.
And feel celebrated all ourselves as well
for all being a part of a wonderful, wonderful community.
Yes, it is a wonderful community.
It is.
And I was so happy
that I knew you were gonna be here again this year.
So we're gonna see you inside,
and we'll gossip a little bit more.
I can't wait.
I'm gonna start the Electric Slide
'cause that's who I am,
but I can't drop anything in this dress.
I can't bend over! [Brooke and Rowan laughing]
Great to meet you. We'll see you in there.
Bye. I can't wait.
Okay, switching gears just a little bit,
one of the biggest stories in sports this year
was the popularity of the WNBA, and we love to see it.
Joining us tonight from the New York Liberty is CEO,
Keia Clarke.
Keia Clarke, get in here.
You are amazing. We're so happy to have you here today.
So happy to be here. Thank you.
[Rowan] You're welcome.
And you look absolutely beautiful.
And it has been an incredible season for the Liberty,
a number one record.
We've got stars on the courts, celebrities outside.
What made this season such an incredible success?
You said it,
it's been a historic year for the entire WNBA,
but we're super proud here in New York.
The team has been playing exceptionally well.
The crowds are showing up.
It's a party in Brooklyn,
one of the best summer parties ever.
But the entertainment value,
just high quality world class basketball,
and chasing the championship,
that's really what's made it such a successful year for us.
Well, talk about high class,
the Liberty made the WNBA finals.
Should we say it again? Finals.
So, what would a championship mean for New York?
Championship would mean everything.
Personally, I've been with the team for almost 15 years,
but for the players, blood, sweat, and tears,
unfinished business.
And we were in the finals last season,
to return again and have a chance
to bring it home for New York, it would mean everything.
And we'd be the first basketball team
to win in New York in 50 years.
So we hope that this team is ready to do it.
I know they're ready to get started
this Thursday night at 8:00 PM with game one of the finals.
We can't wait.
I'm a native of New Yorker through and through,
so I am right there with you.
Thank you so much.
Now-
And it's so amazing.
I'm just a little bit distracted
because I know that you have brought
an absolute fabulous guest with you.
So would you mind introducing who is beside you?
I'm happy to introduce none other than Ellie the Elephant,
our team mascot.
Hello, Ellie.
Oh, hello, Ellie. Hi, Ellie.
Oh my gosh.
Okay, I thought that I really turned it out tonight,
but I'm sorry, you win.
You win head to toe.
I mean, Ellie,
every single celebrity wants to take a selfie with you.
I hope you know
that on the sidelines everyone's talking about you.
And I understand you are here to serve looks.
So first of all, you go girl.
And Ellie slays the house down, especially in boots.
We love your bag. We absolutely love your bag.
So Ellie, thank you for being here
with us tonight. Thank you.
Good luck in the finals,
and take a night off, go enjoy the refreshments,
talk to people, show your looks,
because that's what you do best.
And we will be cheering you on.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Appreciate you. Thank you. Great meeting you.
Fantastic meeting you.
I may need to borrow those pearls.
Yeah, the pearl and the bag.
I mean, that's crazy. [Brooke laughing]
Oh my eyelashes. That is amazing.
Oh, hello. Okay.
And the hair obviously.
Oh yes.
[Keia speaking faintly]
Oh wow. Oh, a collab. That's amazing.
[Keia continues speaking faintly]
Oh, that's great. So we'll see you inside.
See you inside.
Cocktails.
[Rowan chuckles]
Cocktails, Ellie. We'll meet you, Ellie.
We'll meet you in there.
Now in just a moment,
we will hear from Glamour Woman of the Year,
the one and only Sydney Sweeney.
Sydney, I am obsessed with you
and your precious dog, Tank,
so we are setting you both a huge congratulations.
Sydney is such a talented actress and producer.
I loved her in Anyone But You,
and of course, Euphoria, which I watched with my mother,
so it was fantastic.
Yes, we are so happy, [Rowan chuckles]
and I'm sure Tank is very happy too.
But right now, we've got the most decorated
track and field athlete in history.
She is a long time advocate for the wellbeing of athletes,
and she's fighting for better outcomes for Black mothers.
Everyone please give a big kiss to, it's Allyson Felix.
Hello. Hi, Allyson.
Congratulations.
You look beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you so much. It's such an honor.
Well, it's an honor to be talking to you
and all the amazing work that you do.
And this year has been extraordinary for you
because you received a $20 million grant
from Melinda French Gates
to fund that your important work is making the difference.
So it's just incredible.
Can you just tell us why protecting Black maternal health
means so much to you personally?
And also, how can we all help?
Yeah, I mean, my eyes were open to this whole new world
when I was having my daughter.
I had a very traumatic birth experience with her,
and I didn't realize I had severe preeclampsia,
and I didn't realize what a crisis it is in America
for Black women giving birth.
And so, as soon as I learned,
I wanted to come and help as much as I could.
And I knew people were doing important work
in this space for so long.
And so I'm so excited
that Melinda French Gates has really supported this work
and that we can continue to try to make things better.
And everyone can,
they can contact their congressional representatives,
express support from the Momnibus Act,
because we have to change this.
And it's a very, very important time right now.
And thank you so much for being here and sharing your story.
Is there anyone special that you would like to thank
for getting you to this moment?
Oh, my own mother, you know, she has,
always my role model, and just has made so many sacrifices,
so that I could be here.
All the women who have just paved the way,
and I'm just so grateful to follow in those footsteps.
Well, you're paving the way as well. Thank you so much.
Enjoy tonight. We'll see you in there.
Thank you, and huge congratulations.
[Allyson chuckles]
Okay, so there's a very exciting moment coming up,
and we are so excited because we are able to say this,
I never thought I would say Billie Eilish.
I never thought I would say-
[Both] Finneas.
I never thought- Finneas
in the same room with us. I'd say Maggie Baird.
I never thought- That's pretty awesome.
I would say that, but in about three seconds-
Three. Three.
Let's make it one. Two. One.
Okay, everybody- We are going
to introduce you all to Billie Eilish, Finneas
and their gorgeous mother,
Maggie Baird. And look
at that gorgeous mom.
Maggie.
Maggie Baird- Hello.
[Brooke And Rowan] Congratulations.
Congratulations. Hi.
This is my baby girl. It's so nice to meet you.
I'm Rowan.
Nice to meet you too. Sweaty hands,
but that's okay. That's okay.
Nice to meet you. Warm heart.
Hello. Hi.
[Rowan chuckles] My babies.
Hi, how are you?
Oh, it's so nice to meet you both.
Good to meet you guys.
Thanks for being here to support your gorgeous weather.
Thank you for being here to do this.
It's so nice of you. So, Maggie,
congratulations again.
Can you talk about the way that your work
as a climate justice activist connects to your children
and your kids and your life?
Well, I basically spent their whole lives talking about it
to the, probably the lot of eye rolls,
but really, a lot of support too, and appreciation.
And then the amazing thing is because of them,
I get to talk about it even more now,
and I get to influence a lot more people.
And because they're doing so much in this space
and helping us move the music industry
to a more sustainable model,
and just helping feed so many people
and support really the things that I love the most,
which is really amazing. [Billie Eilish chuckles]
And those are your babies, you know,
and I think that we just, you know,
we're such, I'm in awe of you as a mom.
You're talking about eye-rolling,
I get that all the time from my baby girl.
She's like, Your eyes are gonna get stuck.
Yeah.
Bye the way, And I know
that's impossible. if I had the color eyes
that you all have,
I would be rolling and rolling and rolling.
[Rowan chuckling] Oh my God.
We wanna be clear,
this is one of the few times on the red carpet
that you guys are not getting an award.
Instead, Glamour is honoring your mom-
Woo! and artist and activist-
So cool. Maggie.
What to you makes her, I mean, I know to me,
but what to you makes her a Woman of the year?
To me? Yes. [chuckles]
Oh my God. I mean, it's so obvious.
My mom is like the smartest person in the world.
She knows so much about everything,
and I feel like every time she speaks about, you know,
the climate crisis and people and inequity and all,
you know, she speaks like she's been studying it
for her entire life.
And really, she's just like such a,
she's such a sponge with information,
and she just like soaks it all up, and is just like,
instead of soaking it all up and then sitting in it,
she like wants to share it and help people
and like save the world. And help educate people.
Like it's amazing. And help educate people.
'Cause it's, the real thing is like,
there's just like not a lot of, we don't really,
not a lot of people know about a lot of this stuff,
and so it's really important to just share the information.
And she's just the best. I don't know.
And a lot of people, you know, you say you don't know,
but they also feel like, Oh, it's helpless,
they can't do anything about it,
and they can't make a difference.
And that, you know,
that type of a message is always something
that you've really sort of gotten away from,
and said, It all can make a difference.
And as a mom, I kind of, you know, I have to know,
what do you think that your mom did for you
that helped you become the mom and the person
that you are today?
My mom? Your mom.
First of all, just one little thing about your mom,
and you can have my mic in a second, Finneas.
No, no. [all chuckling]
Well, I lost my mom in my 20s, sadly.
but my mom, oh gosh, [chuckles]
Oh, get ready, it's gonna be a whole night of this,
I'm sorry.
My mom was amazing.
Very loving and incredibly capable human being
who had so many talents and skills,
and really, I think in her era,
did not get celebrated for those very much.
My mother was an incredible singer.
Billie has her gift, Finneas has her gift.
And yeah, she was a woman of the 50s and 60s.
And, I mean, you can feel the emotions,
and they're all, will always be so raw.
Finneas, tell me what this means to you
for your mom [chuckles]
to get this. You know, I think,
our mom has been the same wonderful person our whole lives,
and most of our lives were spent privately thinking,
Oh, this is such an amazing person.
And having friends and people my own age
and people our mom's age saying,
Your mom's a really special, you know,
incredibly important person in our, you know,
local small world.
And I think as our sort of community has grown, so to speak,
as we've gotten a wider and wider audience and platform,
I think, allowing, you know, our mom to educate more people
and you know, help more people,
has been such an amazing, important thing.
I mean, the thing I always think about is Covid begins,
that we have the whatever, two weeks to flatten the curve.
And I remember calling my mom and like the third day,
and my mom was like, immediately was like,
Well, all these restaurants are about to close,
and all these hospital workers won't be able to eat.
So let's start this donation platform
where people can donate money to restaurants,
the restaurants can cook all this food,
and the food can get brought to emergency workers.
Immediately, that was like the first thing
she thought about.
She didn't think, Oh, I can't wait to binge this TV show,
which was the first thing I thought, you know,
I'll look at all these hours I have to watch television.
She was immediately thinking
about how she could help other people.
And that's just a sort of a testament
of the way she's always been.
And that's, you know,
we can all learn so much from your mom and from the message
and from never giving up on that message
and making sure that people keep hearing it, you know,
and keep beginning with love.
[Rowan] Thank you all for being here tonight
and talking to us.
It really, it's so inspiring
to see you guys have a relationship with your mother,
just like I have one with mine.
And so I just wanna thank you both
for being here on your night off.
Thanks guys.
Thanks for having is. And it's going to be
emotional, so just get ready. [Rowan and Maggie chuckles]
But it's okay, we've got tissues. And congratulations.
Thank you
for speaking with us. Thanks for having us.
Yeah, thank you so much. We'll see you guys in there.
Thank you guys. We will see you in there.
See ya.
[Finneas faintly speaking]
Reproductive
justice advocates- Thank you. You too.
Kaitlin Joshua and Hadley Duvall are here now.
Kaitlyn and Hadley bravely shared their stories
and got the whole world
to think about reproductive healthcare in a new way.
And for that, they are here,
and they are being honored as Woman of the Year.
So now let's welcome-
[Both] Both of these amazing honorees-
Tonight.
Kaitlyn and Hadley.
Kaitlyn and Hadley-
Over the wire. We want you
to jump over this wire,
and we want you to come back over here and be with us
because we think you're fabulous.
[both chuckling]
Hi, guys.
Hi, there.
Congratulations. Hello.
We're so happy.
Congratulations. Kaitlin,
why was it so important to you
to share your individual story,
and what do you tell others who might wanna do the same?
For me, it was extremely important for me to tell my story
because I know there's thousands of women out there
that are able to share, advocate for themselves,
and especially a lot of women that look like me.
And I know that that is a disadvantaged community,
and it was on me to to speak out and tell my story
in hopes that others don't have to experience
the same thing.
And sharing that message allows other people
to really share their own message.
And Hadley, I've been watching you speak out.
You've had an amazing wild rollercoaster of the year.
From speaking at the DNC to hanging out with Oprah,
getting a standing ovation from Madame Vice President.
Do you, if possible, have a highlight?
Honestly, probably just every little girl
being able to watch from home,
no matter where they are in the country,
and see that someone's fighting for them,
there is hope for them.
And even if you've been through something terrible
and you've checked some boxes
before you've even had the chance to grow up,
you have control of your future.
And that's really just the message that I wanna spread
to so many people
And to rely on the community, and your community,
and continuing to have these conversations.
We thank you so much for sharing those stories
and for being brave,
and we're gonna have to hang out when we get in there.
Yeah [faintly speaking] Okay?
[Brookes] [Hadley chuckles] Congratulations.
Thank you. And we will see you
in there.
Thank you. Thank you both
for being here and for speaking.
I just wanna say thank you now more than ever.
It means a lot,
especially to people like me and my generation,
so I really appreciate everything you're doing.
Thank you. Thank you.
Okay, all right, everybody,
if I had a drum roll, [Rowan chuckling]
I would drum roll right now.
So I'm just gonna [imitates drum roll]
Please, everyone,
welcome Glamour Woman of the Year, Pamela Anderson.
Woo hoo!
[Brooke And Rowan] Hi.
Oh my God. Hi.
[lips smack]
You guys are gorgeous. Hi, Rowan.
[lips smack]
Great to meet you. My baby girl.
Oh my goodness, they grow up so fast.
I know, they do that.
I don't know why they do that. [Pamela faintly speaking]
This has been, why don't we just call it as it is,
the year of Pamela?
Oh, I don't know about that,
but it's okay. But it'll be okay.
It feels good. I mean, it's been a long time.
And these exciting doors are opening for me
that never opened before, so I'm making the most of it.
Well, also, I mean, listen,
you did have a beautiful year,
and I think it's important to take all that in.
You wrote a book, the documentary,
and then I am so, I get a little, ah,
because you got to really show your talent.
There was a director that really wanted everything from you,
and you arrived and you showed up.
In the movie The Last Showgirl,
I think it's so wonderful that your talent is being heralded
because it's always been in there,
and I wanna say congratulations.
And why do you think so many people are resonating mom
with your story in this particular time?
Well, I think authenticity
and vulnerability are rarely celebrated
in this glitz and glamour world of fashion and everywhere.
So I think, I was just really excited to be able
to bring that to the character in The Last Showgirl,
on the character Shelly.
And I was really happy
that Glamour actually put me on the cover of the magazine
with no makeup on.
And I just feel like this has just been my year
to strip it all back, see what's underneath it all.
And you know, you always have to keep
that little fire burning within you,
and you never know when opportunity comes.
In my case, it took a couple decades,
but I finally got the opportunity to do this,
and I'm so excited.
You know, I think it takes, people don't realize
that they talk about like overnight success,
or they talk about, it's like,
No, no, no, let's get this straight.
These are decades in the making.
And you've always been authentic,
so that has been a part of your sweetness.
And all of the people that I know,
that we know in common, have always said that about you,
and your openness and your sweetness and your wanting,
and your willingness to be honest
and to be thoughtful of other people.
Like there's so much that goes into that.
And this business can absolutely destroy you.
So you have done it. We both know that.
We do, but you know what? We're not gonna let it.
No, we're gonna stand tall,
and we're going to use all that to our benefit.
It's like, you know, women that turn poop into fertilizer.
Yes, exactly. Right?
That's us. I love that.
That's such a glamorous thing, poop into fertilizer.
I think we could start our own business.
Yes, we could. [chuckles]
And thank you so much. It's so great to meet you.
Is there anyone special
that you would like to thank right here, right now
for getting you, I know you have a beautiful family.
Well, thank you guys, but I wanna thank my family.
Obviously, my boys are my pride and joy,
and they've been so supportive of everything,
and I just love that we share.
I wanna thank Gia Coppola, of course,
for making the bold move and putting me in this movie,
and the cast, and to Conde Nast and Glamour
for giving me this wonderful honor
and to be able to be here tonight.
I never would've thought that would've happened.
So it's a happy surprise.
Well, you deserve it. And it's only the beginning.
How about that? It's a new beginning.
This is the beginning of my career, I always say.
[Pamela chuckling]
And it's exciting, and it's awesome. [chuckles]
And we will be here to watch the rest of it.
Cheering you on. We cannot wait.
I know you guys will love it. You'll love the movie.
Oh, oh no, I already do love the movie.
I know I love the movie.
[Pamela faintly speaking] Yeah, oh yeah.
Oh, yeah, no, I came prepared. Come on!
Oh my God.
Oh my God, really. Well, yes, promise, love it.
Love it. [chuckles] And been saying that
since since it's happened.
So I'm happy for you.
Thank you so much. When we go in there,
and we're not in front of like the major camera,
let's have a little hug.
Yes. [speaks faintly] Okay.
All right, okay. Thank you.
Congratulations.
We're gonna go right down there. That way.
Watch...
Okay.
And now we have four time
Grammy nominee, Kelsea Ballerini, with us.
So I would love to give a warm welcome.
I know that was fast.
[Brooke] Woo! [Rowan laughing]
You just got thrown in. Hi.
Hello. Thank you.
Hi. It's great to meet you.
I'm Rowan.
Nice to meet you, and I'm Kelsea.
You guys look stunning. Thank you.
Well, thank you. Thank you.
I think- You do too.
we all look- I know, it works.
pretty good together. Do we sort of match?
We're like Olympic medalists.
[Brooke faintly speaking]
There's something metallic. Yeah, I don't know.
Metallic is taken, Girls, I like that.
Unfortunately. Yeah.
but we can work around that.
You're right, you're right.
[Brooke speaks faintly]
Oh, ooh. Ooh, yes.
Do you like that? Yes.
All right, so there's so much to look forward to tonight.
Yeah, I mean, you are performing tonight.
How does it feel- I am.
to perform in front of all of these badass women?
Well, okay, so whenever they asked me to perform,
I was like, I don't even know who's being honored yet.
They kept it very tightlipped.
But I was like, just, Yes,
like performing for women as a woman,
I'm like, I'm just here for the girls always.
And then I started hearing who was being honored
and who was gonna be here,
and then I got in the room for sound check today,
and I just saw all the seats,
and I was like, Man, I am so influenced
by so many of y'all.
And yeah, it just feels really wonderful
to sing a song off a record that I'm about to put out
that I made with only women.
So it feels very kismet, yeah.
And it drops pretty soon.
I know, and you're talking about it, your new album,
it's called Patterns,
it drops October 25th. It is.
Yes, real soon. Can you give us a little bit
of a sneak peek into what we're expecting?
Girl, well, it is honestly just,
it is my entry into my 30s.
It is like every big feeling
that I've had entering into that, good, bad, and ugly.
And it has some bops and it has some criers,
and that's how I roll.
That's how we roll too. You know,
that's how I roll. That's every day.
It's one or the other, and we're rolling with it.
Yes, absolutely. [Rowan laughing]
Well, have fun tonight.
Yeah, this is really, thank you for being here.
It's such an honor to meet you.
Break a leg tonight. Thank you.
And I can't wait to see you. We were in the back,
and we heard the sound check, so.
Yeah, we were like running through-
Oh my God, we cannot wait!
It was amazing. I was warming up,
but thank you for saying that.
[Rowan chuckling] Hardly.
Hopefully. [chuckles]
All right,
[lips smack] I'll see you guys in there.
See you in there. Bye.
And now coming up,
we have actress and model- Yes.
[both chuckling]
[Both] DaCosta.
She's an actress, she's a model.
She's the most important- Hello.
Look at this outfit. one of them in your life.
Look at this!
Okay, wait, hold on, just a a moment here.
Stunning. I mean, start to finish.
[Rowan] Look at this.
And the back. Woo!
Love the outfit. I love an open back.
For the back,
can you give it up- I love an open back.
for the back? an open back.
Thank you. Give it up
for the front and sides. Thank you. [laughs]
All sides. All sides. Thank you, Brooke.
How are you ladies doing tonight?
Great. How are you?
Thank you so much for being here.
It's really exciting. How are you feeling?
Amazing, amazing.
Excited to be in the room with so many beautiful, powerful,
intelligent, inspiring women.
It's just lovely.
Is there anybody in particular
that you are especially looking forward
to like bumping shoulders with or hugging?
To be honest, and not to be boring, but to be honest,
after being quarantined,
every single opportunity I get to be outside is exciting.
Like anyone who I meet,
I know that it's an ordained encounter.
We're celebrating, we're excited to be, you know,
free people out in the world,
looking fabulous and interacting with each other.
So any anyone is an exciting person to meet,
'cause you never know
where those relationships end up in the future, right?
That's supporting. That's what she tells me-
[Brooke] You know,
supporting one another, every single time.
[Brooke] I think is so important.
It always been that.
Yeah, is there anyone that you wanna thank,
or who is the most important person, woman, female,
anybody in your life, would you say?
Oh wow. [sighs] Gosh, well, first obviously my mom.
[DaCosta sighs]
Sorry for being, I'm staying with her when I come,
because I don't live in New York anymore,
so I stay with her, and she's like,
When you come, you just running around and here and there,
we don't hang together.
So sorry that I've been running around crazy.
But just to be able to come home,
and you know, be in a familiar setting setting
and get the [inhales deeply] recharge
so I can go out in the world and be myself
is just a blessing.
Tell your mom I understand.
The only way I get to see her- I'm home from college.
was hosting the red carpet together,
because she's in college. Oh, okay.
Yes, you're in college?
I am. [chuckles]
Where you going? So tell your mom
I understand. I got a Wake Forest.
Okay. I'm a senior,
so I'm taking every day very slowly
because I don't wanna be anything above a senior.
[Rowan chuckles] Get ready, girl.
Okay.
I'm not ready, but we'll talk later,
and I'll talk to your mom.
I'm gonna give her my number. Enjoy yourself tonight.
We will see you in there. So great meeting you,
and thank you for being here tonight.
[lips smack]
Thank you.
Bye. Bye.
And now we have very impressive singer, songwriter,
Ayra Starr.
[Brooke] We're so excited.
Oh look- Hi, Ayra.
oh wow, she just came in,
look how she walks, the shoulders back.
Oh boy.
That dress. Hello, how are you?
You look gorgeous.
You look stunning. [Rowan laughing]
Thank you.
So we are here to celebrate women,
and women that have made a difference in our lives.
And who's the most important, let's say, woman in your life?
My mother, of course.
I know, I feel like everybody says that, right?
Ah, it's the truth. Okay.
Well, it's the truth, moms are the best.
[Brooke] Everybody says that, right?
[Rowan] Yeah, everybody says that, right?
Thank you. [Ayra chuckling]
[Brooke] Thank you.
[Ayra laughing]
Okay, so I, well, I've been around a long time,
and I think that there are certain things
I thought when I was younger
that I don't necessarily think the same today.
So were there any assumptions that you made as a child
about your own life that stuck with you?
Either good, bad or assumptions other people made
that you wanna really say, No, that's not it.
You know, growing up,
I always had like this childlike faith,
like I was gonna do music and all of that,
and I feel like I always,
like my mom always manifested greatness in my life.
And I feel like that's something that was always
at the back of my mind.
So any assumptions
that were made by anyone around me never stuck
because I was surrounded by a lot of positivity,
and like strong women, so, yeah.
Well you could, I just wanna have you on tape,
and I just wanna have it play all,
that voice and the message, it is just so inspiring.
And what are the best words to live by
that anyone has ever shared for you?
Mm, let me see.
There's so many good things everybody has told me.
I met like one of my idols the other day,
and she was just like, Have fun.
It's so simple, but we actually need to have fun.
We need to enjoy the process of life,
and it's all in the journey.
The highs, the lows, all of it.
And that's all a part of it.
And you've done both,
and we're so excited to see what you do next
and to keep listening and watching you.
And thank you.
Thank you.[chuckling]
Have a great time tonight, and we'll see you in there.
See you in there. [sighs]
And now a true legend, Golden Globe and Emmy winner,
Oscar nominee, style icon, entrepreneur,
and entertainment mogul, give it up for Taraji P. Henson.
Hello. Yes, congratulations. This is really amazing.
Hello. Oh my goodness.
Oh, I love it! [all laughing]
We are silver and gold.
And we are so, so happy to be seeing you.
[lips smack] Congratulations.
[lips smacking]
Back to you. Thank you so much.
So last year you honored your friend Mary J. Blige.
. I did.
And now you are a woman of the year.
So first of all, congratulations.
Thank you so much. That is so amazing.
Thank you. Yeah.
How do you feel tonight?
Honored, grateful, blessed.
I'm full of joy
in a world that is trying to steal it from us.
Thank you, Glamour.
Thank you, 'cause I needed it in this moment right now.
Thank you for my flowers. I appreciate you.
Oh, well, we appreciate you.
And I was, we were talking earlier
and we were saying like, Okay, well, what's the list?
And then I ran out of fingers
because you're an actor, you're an entrepreneur,
your film, TV, and a Broadway producer.
You are an author, you are a mom,
and you are a big advocate for mental healthcare.
That has always been something very important in my life
to talk about it, destigmatize it,
and take away the shame and create support teams.
With such a busy life though, how do you manage to take care
of your own mental health for you?
I pay attention to how I'm feeling, and I have anxiety.
So if the anxiety gets to be a bit too much,
then I have to stop, and I have to assess it,
and I have to take care of myself.
And if I feel overwhelmed, no is okay.
Saying no is okay. No will save your life.
I did not grow up knowing no.
And I didn't learn it until , I'm 59,
and I just learned it a while ago.
I know, me as well.
'Cause you get in the industry,
and finally you get that break,
and it's like, Go, go, go, go,
because you're scared the phone's gonna stop ringing.
And you know what, when you have faith,
you don't have to worry about that stuff.
And when you're a mom, you give so much.
and then you give so much to the industry, and your art,
and your, and I think that, you know,
it's important to lean on other people,
get help and lean on yourself.
I have an amazing circle of girlfriends.
They're my sisters of the yam.
That's what I like to call them. And they check in on me.
You know, sometimes they'll pull up,
if my hello sounds funny on the phone,
they will knock on the door
'cause they need to check on me,
look in to see what's behind my eyes.
So it's always great to have a great support system,
especially women.
Like it's nothing like us, right?
No, and you need to be witnessed,
you know, especially with mental health,
sometimes we isolate.
That is very dangerous.
We need to be able to witness each other
and allow ourselves to be witnessed,
to not go through something alone.
Absolutely, because humans need humans, period,
at the end of the day.
Absolutely.
Well, we need you as a human, and we've needed you,
so thank you.
And you've been such a big inspiration to me
for being not afraid to use my voice.
Because when you tell your story, you help not only yourself
but so many other people.
So thank you for being brave.
[Brooke] Thank you.
Beautiful. [laughing]
Oh, stop, I can't.
We're gonna have to hug
for real life inside. Yes, let's do it.
Oh, or now.
[lips smack]
I always try- You are amazing.
to hug the downstairs- Yes!
so you get at the camera.
Oh, thank you.
We'll see you in there.
It's great meeting you. And you.
And thank you for just speaking what you just said.
As someone who's on their, in their last year of college,
and I have amazing girlfriends,
and they're watching me right now.
A support system goes a long way,
and it's good to have people there.
And it's okay to also say, Hey, I need someone right now.
Absolutely.
[Rowan] So I appreciate you speaking those words.
Thank you so much.
Congratulations to you,
and good luck. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you.
You have a bright future ahead of you,
I'm not worried.
[all giggling]
All right,
we'll have a toast inside. It's so great to meet you.
Congratulations. Yes, we will.
Okay. Thank you.
Right now we're here with entrepreneur Jordyn Woods
and her mom, Elizabeth Woods,
another amazing mother-daughter duo tonight.
So let's please welcome them. Hi, guys.
Come on. Look at you creatures.
Oh my God. We didn't do silver.
We should have done silver.
We're like all perfect.
[all chattering]
Come over here- I gave it-
and come over here, Mom. for the night.
Show everybody out there
that you're gorgeous on the jumbotron.
Look at these gorgeous outfits and women!
And an unbelievable mother-daughter.
How amazing to be out here with your daughter.
I mean, I'm proud beyond, [Rowan chuckles]
and we're so excited to be talking to you tonight.
I'm surprised we match. Shit, this is crazy. [laughs]
We didn't call each other, though.
No, we did not.
But I mean, look at this, and we do match.
Yeah, we've been spending a lot of time together
these past couple days when I'm home from school. [chuckles]
I love that.
Where do you go to school?
I go to Wake Forest.
Oh, amazing.
Yeah, so I'm in my last year there.
But you guys are here.
And Jordyn, this is your first time
at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, correct?
It is my first time.
Okay, and how are you feeling?
I feel amazing.
I think it's always a beautiful thing to be surrounded
with such beautiful, powerful, strong, amazing woman.
I agree, and I'm glad
that we all get to come together in this world right now
and just be women, because that's pretty darn cool.
And just be positive.
And just be positive, yeah.
And uplift each other
is amazing. Uplift each other,
right, girls for girls. No, it's amazing.
and I think that is what tonight literally embodies.
So, Jordyn, I'm curious, obviously,
you have your mother with you here tonight,
but are there any other women
or anyone else in the world
that have influenced your life
and gotten you where you are today?
You know, I feel like on a day to day base,
I'm always influenced by any amazing woman that I meet,
because there's so many beautiful people out there.
Whether it's someone I see on the street
that gives me a compliment, or someone on social media,
I feel like just as long as we're giving each other flowers,
I can easily be inspired by anyone out there
that's being unapologetically themself.
And my little sister also, she's not here,
but she is like my twin, and she also-
[Brooke] Hi, baby sister.
Hi, Jody. Hi, Jody.
[Rowan] Hi, Jody.
And they look identical, which is crazy.
Wow, that is quite crazy.
Are they different personalities or just-
Polar opposites. Polar opposites.
Yes, for sure they there. And she's 17.
Oh, oh, oh. Yeah.
All right.
Speaks for itself, right? [chuckles]
Yeah, ut she's great. She's sweet.
Is there a piece of advice that your mother has given you
that has really resonated with you
and that you still, you know,
kind of recite in your head daily?
Yeah, okay, one thing she always says
is people will not remember what you did,
but they'll remember how you made them feel.
And always keep your integrity.
And those are words that I go by every day
because I always try to uplift the people around me.
Wow, Mom, thank you. Thank you for that.
And our babies.
I think we should have a toast inside
to celebrate our babies.
I think we should. For sure, for sure.
Well, I will be there,
and I hope you will too. Yeah, please.
Yes, yes. I would love that.
Congratulations on everything.
So many years, like we're still 25, but you know,
you've uplifted people [Rowan laughing]
for a long time, and kudos to you.
Well, thank you. And she's magnificent.
Thank you.
And she is magnificent. We have some pretty cool mamas.
I think you can agree with me on that.
So thank you both
for being here tonight. Thank you so much.
It's great to meet you in. We'll see you in there.
We'll see you in there. Yeah,
For sure. Have a wonderful evening.
We'll be right with you.
Yes, thank you, guys.
Thank you. Bye.
Talk to you tomorrow about what we're wearing.
Yeah. [chuckles]
[Elizabeth] You might need it, look.
Oh, I might need that.
Oh, hello, what? What?
That's awesome.
That works. That's amazing.
[Elizabeth laughing]
And right now we, the fun keeps going.
We're here with actress, producer and activist, Sophia Bush.
Okay, she's my friend, by the way.
[Rowan laughing]
Hi.
I know she's your real mom,
but she was my mother-in-Law in a movie, and it feels-
[Rowan] It's real.
Yeah. It is real.
It feels real. No, it's real.
No, I know,
I get it. The best one.
Hi, cuties.
Hi, beautiful woman.
You had had such a year,
and you just, you keep making the world a better place
and fighting so hard, and you're stunning,
and I'm so happy for you.
Thank you.
And we're just so, I mean, every time I see you,
I'm always amazed at your energy,
your clarity. Oh, stop it.
No, and your intelligence.
And it's one of those things that I always,
I would call home, and I'd say, Oh my God, she's amazing.
And she's so, so unbelievably brilliant about what you do.
And talk to us just a little bit about what the last,
oh, I don't know, year, few months, you pick,
have been like for you.
I mean, [sighs] listen, I think at the end of the day,
our journeys are about evolving, right?
And realizing how to be fully realized happy humans,
and hopefully leave the world better than we found it.
And I think that's never more sort of pressing or obvious
than right ahead of an election.
And especially on a night like tonight.
I mean, I know we've talked about this for so long.
You know, our concern is fighting for you all
to have the rights we've had
and to be here with, you know, incredible women
who are working to make the world a better place,
who are attempting to ensure that, you know, [chuckles]
shocker, 51% of the population's treated like people,
who knew that would be our battle in 2024.
But it's profoundly important,
and I think also so unifying for us,
and I'm just, I'm thrilled to be here in this community.
And I know you've had this very strong message,
especially now about voting and the importance of it.
And I'd love you to, you've been going all over the country.
and you've been speaking this,
and you've been talking about reproductive rights,
and what do you want people to do, the people at home?
What message can you help disseminate
and keep disseminating?
Well, I think my hope for people is to realize
that on these sorts of issues,
the math and the morals meet to treat women,
and anyone who is fighting for their right
to bodily autonomy as full people,
is both morally important,
but it's also incredibly important for the economy.
You know, reproductive justice is an economic issue.
And if women are allowed
to fully participate in their dreams, their life planning,
their collegiate educations, whether they wanna have kids,
how many kids, when they wanna have kids,
if they want them at all, all of this,
it not only matters for our lives
and our own pursuit of life, liberty,
and freedom per the Constitution,
but it really matters for the economy.
And if 50% of the population
is not able to participate in the economy,
we slowly suffocate the country.
And when you consider that women are the largest creators
of small businesses in America, you know,
that we are often heads of household in terms of finances,
the math and the morals meet here folks.
And it's so incredibly important that we, I think,
wake up and stand up for each other.
And I think that's so important.
I recently had to go to DC,
and talking about something different,
but it was amazing to me
how the economic piece was not something that was primary.
And I kept saying,
Look, this isn't just touchy feely feelings like Kumbaya.
Like this is an economic benefit to communities,
to the culture, and that's a message that they will hear.
Yes.
Well, because I think,
listen, people can have different opinions.
You can have different feelings about social issues.
Feelings are not facts.
Medical science, it turns out, is based in fact.
But the economy is hard to argue
because math is math, no matter how you feel about it.
And I think to create a really healthy economy,
to create a really healthy America
and a new way forward, you know,
as we're discussing on the Harris campaign,
it's really important that we tie these issues of,
as you said, emotion and fact together,
and we have rational conversation based in truth.
Well, that is something
that we need to keep talking about.
And we are gonna do everything in our power,
'cause you are absolutely, to move this forward.
From my generation.
I am saying thank you for helping be our voice.
And especially right now, more than ever.
And everybody please make sure to go out,
get registered and vote, vote, vote.
It is so important, especially for Gen Zers, everybody,
now is the time to vote.
Use your voice because it really does matter.
Thank you, Sophia, for being here today.
They all matter.
[lips smack]
We will see you. I love you.
I love you more.
I'm so happy to see you.
I'm obsessed that you're doing this together.
I'll see you in there.
[lips smack]
We'll see you in there.
Oh, okay, well, oh yeah.
Just keep talking. Intermission.
We are, [chuckles] we are here, that's live television,
with the Grammy's best new artist of 2024, Victoria Monet.
Hello, Victoria. Woo!
[Rowan] Look at you.
Look at you.
That is amazing.
Oh my God.
Hi. You look beautiful.
[Brooke] You look
absolutely stunning. You look beautiful.
Thank you. Thank you. This is just, everything.
Thank you so much. Look at you.
Show everybody in Times Square. Come on!
Wow. At jumbotron. Thank you so much.
Victoria, thank you for being here tonight.
Thank you guys. Who are some women
in your life that have inspired you?
Oh my God. My mom.
She's here in the city tonight and my daughter.
So I feel like it is so lovely
to see you two hosting this together.
'cause I cannot, as future goals.
My daughter's only three, so I got a while to go,
But definitely my mom. She's a slacker.
Yeah, I know. [chuckles]
So what is she thinking? [chuckles]
Yeah, so I would have to say my mom.
And so it's really nice to see the honorees
and the presenters tonight be mother-daughter duos.
It's just like, I love it so much.
And how are you feeling tonight?
It's so amazing to be in a room
with all of these amazing women.
How do you feel, and what does this mean to you?
You know what, any event that we're able to honor women,
I'm so down for, I'm so here for it.
I think there was ages where we felt unseen
and was a thankless job to be a woman and a mother.
So I'm happy to be here tonight alongside everybody
to clap it up for all the women involved tonight.
Well, I'm sure your mom is an inspiration to you
and you are an inspiration to your baby, baby girl.
A 3-year-old, that's so wonderful.
They grow up so fast.
Way to fast.
And yeah, the nights are long,
the years are short, is what I will say, so.
And I have to ask, as a super fan,
do you have anything fun potentially coming out
for your fans? You know what,
I did just drop a deluxe of Jaguar II.
It just came out last Friday.
So there is
new music to be heard- Well, there you go.
If you haven't heard it- Fantastic.
or seen it, it's out now and available everywhere, so.
Okay, wow.
Available everywhere.~ That is, yeah.
Everywhere, it's available. Everywhere. [chuckles]
Okay, well, we'll celebrate you more inside.
Have fun tonight.
You look so beautiful.
You look beautiful.
Thank you for having me.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you. Thank you.
Okay, now we get to hear from Glamour Women of the Year,
Sydney Sweeney.
Sadly, Sydney couldn't be here tonight,
but she sent this message.
Thank you Brooke and Rowan.
I really wish I could be there tonight.
And I'm so sad I'm not there in person with all of you,
but I'm very thankful to Glamour for being awarded
amongst such an amazing group of women.
And I hope you all have an incredible evening.
Thank you, Sydney.
And we will- She said your name.
Yeah, I know. [chuckles] Oh my God.
I'm gonna get like a, one of those scar-
Yeah, things.
Tattoos. [chuckles]
And we will make sure that you and Tank get your trophy.
Thank you so much. And congratulations, Sydney.
Tank has to meet our Twosie,
just to let you know, okay. Oh, hi, kitty cat.
Yeah
They're pretty special- Kitty cat.
those little fur balls.
But thank you so much Sydney, and congratulations.
We are sending you love,
and we are so happy to be here.
Have you had fun tonight?
Yeah, listen, this is,
thank you for I needed a vibe check,
this has been so much fun for me.
I'm just so honored to be in a room
with all of these amazing women, hearing stories.
People are here for a reason
because every single person has a unique story
and a rich history.
And talking to them is something
that I will remember forever.
Well, I hope you also remember that it's a real night,
too, for moms and daughters.
I just want you to remember that.
And this year, Glamour is gonna honor
an entire group of moms
who gave their kids such incredible self-confidence to soar.
We are talking Beyonce, Solange Knowles,
and Kelly Rowland, Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish and Finneas,
and Travis and Jason Kelce.
So take a look.
[upbeat music]
Woman of the Year, I would think that it would be someone
who is a powerful advocate for other women.
Someone that is kind, someone that is inclusive,
someone who has done something to better the world
and change the way we think about the world.
Women who can do it all and take a lot of pride in it.
[upbeat music continues]
I mean, I just,
I think that tonight has been such an incredible night.
What has been some of your favorite moments from tonight
besides being with your mother?
[Rowan chuckles]
I think just, you know, being in this room,
and you know, looking at these women in their eyes
and asking questions
and talking about things that are important,
such as reproductive rights and following-
Voting. Yeah, voting
and following- And confidence.
And confidence.
And learning from those above us and from those below us.
And that every generation is as important as the next,
as the generation above them.
And it's just, I will say this again, now more than ever,
it is important for us as women to just use our voice
because it's necessary, and it really does matter.
Everyone's voice matters.
And also, I think that there's something
very much to be said tonight about community.
You know, we've watched all these incredible women,
moms, daughters, friends, siblings,
we've saw all these women,
and they've all talked about their community,
their support group.
They've talked about people
that have made their lives doable,
and how they gain support,
and how they lean on those people.
And we're not meant to do this alone.
We're not meant to do anything alone.
So I think that it's been a great lesson.
I'm so happy to be able to share it with my daughter.
And right now, we get to invite our friend back, Sam Barry.
That's why- Sam Barry.
we are here tonight.
You guys are doing an amazing job.
Also, I had a look outside Times Square.
You look so good
on the jumbotron. Really?
It's so good, yeah.
We all look very good- Jumbotron.
on the jumbotron. Very good on the jumbotron.
So, what messages do you wanna share with women around,
let's do the world tonight?
Oh my God. Well, do you know what?
I think there was just such moments of joy.
I was watching from the end of the red carpet,
and I just loved all the family moments.
I loved the Mom of the Year from Glamour,
Lyndon Limon and her daughter Dupree,
who were at the start on the red carpet with you.
I loved Maggie with Billie and Finneas.
I was like, Oh my God, the beautiful moment.
I think there was just a lot of love on the carpet tonight.
Who's your favorite people?
Who did you love? Who are you talking to?
I mean, meeting Bill Eilish
and just seeing the connection she had with her mother
and watching her mother
get emotional talking about Tear up.
her experience with her mother.
I think that just speaks volumes on why we're here tonight
and why you host this amazing thing the way you do
and have us all here.
So that was, yeah.
And Billie Eilish said my hair looks good tonight,
so now I can- It does.
I can die happy.
You know, 'cause I was like,
Billie Eilish said my hair looks good.
So I was like, Yes, I'm ready.
Okay, well don't leave too soon.
Okay, 'cause we need some more,
but I think that's a perfect way to end.
And I just wanna say thank you for having us,
for asking us to do this together.
This was a highlight for me in my life.
And we just wanna thank all the change makers
who joined us tonight.
Okay, so, well, we might not go just yet
because I think we, here's what we know,
there's a lot of people tuning in,
and I wanna give 'em a little sense
of what's happening upstairs.
Because what we do have is we've got performers,
we've got Kelsea Ballerini, who you guys talk to.
What did she have to say?
[Rowan] Oh, she has a new album coming out,
and she's very excited.
Lots of new music.
And she just once again emphasized on being in a room
and performing for all of these badass women.
We had a lot of singers on the carpet as well tonight.
A lot of stars.
And I think what you also saw,
like the athletes really stood out for me.
I know we talked about this earlier,
but there's something about this Olympic year
that in general we love athletes.
We had Ellie the Elephant, which was I think,
a big surprise for a lot of people.
And there was something
about having Suni Lee and Allyson on that carpet
that just, I mean, I don't think I'm an Olympian,
but you know, part of me when I watched the Olympics
thinks that I could do it.
I think we all have some Olympic tendencies
just in being women.
Not to take anything away from the extraordinary athletes,
obviously, but we all have to get in touch
with our confidence and our endurance.
And we need to keep fighting and keep growing.
And you've taught, you've taught me that,
and you've taught a lot of people that,
and you provide a beautiful evening
for so many different beautiful women.
So thank you.
Thank you so much.
Okay, now, and that is very worthy and brilliant,
but who was your favorite look of the night?
Tell me everything.
I'm gonna go with Ellie. [laughs]
Ellie, Ellie in the costume.
I loved Victoria Monet's dress.
It was, I wanna say- That dress was insane.
like Hunger Gamesesque.
It was very covered but also not too covered.
Regal, we had the gold broaches, so everything was amazing.
And then of course, look at you too.
I mean, I was- Wait a second.
Sorry, you- Of course, yes.
You walked right in,
and I was [gasps] I heard a rumor
that you guys are doing a costume change for the party.
It's not a rumor. It's true.
It's not true, and I've sweat through this
poor sequin dress- It's not fun.
for a long time, and I'm gonna just change it.
The sequins are welting.
Yes.
[all chuckling]
Alright, well, What an amazing night, Sam.
Thank you so much for giving us
and giving me this opportunity and inviting her back.
[Rowan chuckles]
Thank you. Bye everybody.
Goodbye, everyone. Thank you.
